My first experience with Crossfit was in 2012, after losing a push-up contest. I had challenged
my co-worker, and because I lost, she made me drop into her box. I was humbled by everyone
that smoked me in what seemed like the longest workout of my life, so I signed up for a
membership the following week. Since then, I've trained at many different boxes, from
Monterey, CA to Djibouti, Africa, and now at Crossfit Old Town. I earned my L1 at the Ranch in
2015, and have attended many more courses since then. My favorite part of coaching is getting to
know different people, and helping them to challenge themselves and learn new things.
The most memorable lesson I've learned in my years of Crossfit was from my first coach. She
would always tell us that even on the days you don't feel like working out, just "show up and warm up, then decide". As intimidating as the box can seem from the outside, the community is
second to none, and the positive energy pushes you through the challenging workouts.
